Conventional homes don't work!!! The Minneapolis Star Tribune conducted an investigative report
on new homes. They hired building scientists from around the country to help with the study.
What they found was alarming. The findings revealed that thousands of homes being built to existing standards were
at risk of rotting due to moisture condensation and water intrusion. A secondary problem which forced owners from
their homes was poor air quality and other health problems due to the mold and fungus spores growing in these damp
environments.
The Minnesota State Legislature followed the reported stories very closely.
After completion of the report, the Legislature with the help of the building scientists and housing experts rewrote
the building codes. They mandated stringent building procedures that would safeguard the public.
After two years of court battles and builder education programs, Minnesota's new building code went into effect
on April 15, 2000.
Roger Kjonaas Super Homes has been promoting and educating these same building techniques
since 1980. Even though these important procedures initially add cost to your home, you save in the long run.
